Left work early, went to Woquoit Bay on the scooter. Horseshoe Shoal was reporting 20mph when I left work, but it was DEFINITELY not 20mph when I got to Woquoit. I used Ed’s tie-it-to-a-tree self-launch technique and it worked very well. Seriously underpowered on my 122, couldn’t get upwind at all. I used the power-less conditions to practice carving turns, and switching to toe-side via jumping a 180 instead of sliding. Ed showed up a little later, I had lots of fun riding his big Cadillac board, and was shocked to be able to crank upwind in such light conditions. I am definitely getting a big board. The Cadillac doesn’t really hold an edge, track straight, or turn, but it sure has a lot of surface area. I had to give his board back, and learned this sweet move to kill time. While standing on the beach, I can hold the board by the handle with my right hand, swoop the kite overhead with my left, jump, put the board on my feet, land in the water, and ride off victorious. I was landing about 1-for-5. Wind picked up right at dusk, and I had some good rides on my 122. Did a few very clean backflips, and all around had a good time.
