Went to Woquoit Bay at 10 this morning with Rob, and it was absolutely blasting. Paul had his handheld wind meter there, and was recording high 20’s-low 30’s on the beach. I can only estimate that the sustained winds were at least in the low 30’s offshore and up where my kite was. Horseshoe Shoal was report gusts over 40mph, so I can only imagine it was close to that in Woquoit Bay.
Bow kites are pretty amazing. I rigged my Waroo on the lowest knot, and was able to comfortably hold it down, even in such crazy conditions. I weigh about 140lbs, and I was holding down a 9m kite in 30mph winds, and was pretty comfortable. Amazing.
Did some big boosts, some not so big boosts, a few grabs, a few backrolls. Didn’t really try improving my tricks at all, because conditions were so crazy. Rode for four hours, and now I am totally beat.
