I spent the afternoon at Waquoit Bay. It was forecasted to pick up to 17 this afternoon, but in reality it picked up to about…oh…6 knots. Despite the light conditions, I actually had a great time. The water was glassy smooth, and I had just enough power to get upwind with Rob’s 16m EH, and his enormous (I think 170cm) Lightwave board. We were launching from the South Cape Beach sandbar, and the wind was at the perfect angle that I could get way upwind by the entrance channel to the bay, then switch to toeside and do a perfect downwinder parallel to the shore, about 5′ away from the beach. It was a lot of fun.

I also got to try Ed’s new (to him) Best Float 133, which is one of the nicest boards I’ve ever ridden, in flat water anyway. The wind picked up, conveniently, right when I got ahold of it, and I was actually able to do some jumps with it. That board has excellent pop off the water, especially considering the wind was probably about 13mph tops.

It was nice just to cruise around. The weather was gorgeous, the clouds were pretty, and it was absolutely silent except for the sound of the spray coming off the board.
