Went to Waquoit this morning. Wind was light at first, so I got to try out my new light-air board, which is going to be a great board. The wind quickly increased, so I switched to my smaller board. The wind was very gusty, so setting up jumps was hit-or-miss. But I learned two new tricks, the board-twist, and the half-of-a-deadman trick. I can’t do a full deadman because that would make my Waroo fall out of the sky, but I got the board over my head and resting against the lines. There was one little session where I was screaming into shore toeside, doing a big roundhouse turn, then nailing my wake on the way out and doing huge jumps. During one of those, the wind blasted right as I was taking off, and I got launched waaaay into the air. It was awesome.
I was also riding mega-overpowered, building up tons of pressure against the rail, then popping off a little chop while keeping the kite low, and hurtling downwind through the air at a ridiculous rate of speed. I was getting so much time in the air, if conditions had been sane enough for me to unhook, I would have tried an S-Bend.
I also did a really awesome slow-motion backroll with a hefty boost from the kite. Definitely the best one I’ve done, since I’ve tried adding a kite boost into the mix.
